Dr Imran Hussain

Dr Imran Hussain has been trained broad based in respiratory medicine and general medicine, having worked at the Royal Brompton hospital, as well as Wythenshawe hospital. He undertake general internal medicine and respiratory medicine in a 1000 bedded teaching hospital, 5 th largest in UK. He provide in and outpatient services for patients with general respiratory medicine, as well as providing out of hours support for respiratory medicine as well as general internal medicine on call.
His sub-speciality work includes providing lung cancer and COPD clinics. He have been involved in the development of the lung cancer service, developing specialised cancer clinics, in organising clinic flows to allow a “one stop shop” to allow rapid assessment of patients. The service is one of the largest in the UK managing over 500 patients a year with lung cancer.
He have in conjunction with the imaging team devised a fast-track radiology system, allowing rapid access to the service from primary care – this has been awarded grant by Cancer Research UK and incorporated into the national optimum lung cancer pathway. He have also developed the local lung cancer screening programme, originally supported by grant by regional cancer network prior to being incorporated into the national lung cancer screening programme. He also co-lead the severe asthma service, where patients are reviewed and assessed for commencement on biological treatment for severe asthma.
